Chicago Hardcore focuses on the local, all-ages DIY scene as opposed to the bar and club scene. Many of the forum members are much younger (though very knowledgeable of Chicago Punk history) than posters on the other Chicago punk sites. There is a high level of participation from straight edgers and folks from Northwest Indiana.
The Chicago Punk Database
This site intends to be a collections of bands, members, labels etc. for the Chicago punk scene. This page specifically focuses on the earlier Chicago scene - though there is no formal cutoff date, the information on this page pretty much focuses on Chicago punk before 1990. If you have content to add for the early-to-mid 90s feel free to contribute. All you have to do to add pages is create an account and start making pages. Click here for more info on how to edit pages.

There are NUMBEROFARTICLES articles in the database, most of which are small and need more information. Some suggestions to get started - add a link to an unlisted band on left-hand side of this page, go to a band's page and add members/instruments, fix any spelling errors, or create new page about your favorite Chicago Punk record. Anything you can add will help tremendously, so please contribute today!
John Pierson (aka Jughead from Screeching Weasel) and Russ Forster do a fantastic podcast on Big Black's Atomizer record. It has interviews with Santiago Durango, Steve Albini, Camilo Gonzalez and Jeff Pezzati on the beginnings of Big Black and how that record came to be. The Jugheads Basement podcast previously focused on such groundbreaking 80s Chicago records as Naked Raygun's Throb Throb and Screeching Weasel's My Brain Hurts.
"Bluster" is a post-punk post-hardcore band from Chicago composed of Mark Weissburg (vocals, rhythm guitar), Anna Friedman (vocals, bass) and Larry Ohler (drums) that formed in Chicago in 2012.

History
The original band members met on dating site OkCupid and began practicing in 2012. Ok Bluster.
From the start they worked out original material with influences that included Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., Husker Du, and X. Their first live show was on Mother's Day, May 17, 2014 at Chicago's Subterranean in Wicker Park. Chicago Reader

Their music was described as an, "eclectic sound, which times felt like straight up rock before delving into more post punk territory."Gapers Block review

Their self titled EP "Bluster" was released August 10, 2014. Bluster EP. Later that month they were featured on indie podcast The Homemade Hit Show. Homemade Hit Show

After original drummer Alex Meza moved to New Mexico, the band went into hiatus while searching for a new drummer, finally adding Larry Ohler in October 2014. Their first show with Ohler was at the Red Line Tap on November 20, 2014 and they have been playing consistently since.
